Happy Birthday, Daniel!

I can't believe it...Daniel is 18 today! That 4 year old chipmunk cheeked, freckle faced, scared little boy that DCS brought to us 13 years ago has grown up into a wonderful, handsome young man. It's so cliche' to say that they grow up so fast, but they do. To celebrate tonight, he and his friend, Michael, are going to see the new "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie. Hmmmm...spending your b'day with Johnny Depp doesn't seem so bad! We're having a party on Saturday.

So, Happy Birthday, Big D...I love ya!

10 kids for breakfast!

I fixed pancakes for breakfast yesterday. I had 7 of mine, Brooklyn, Madie, and Micah. I fixed over 3 pounds of Bisquick (I buy the 6 lb. box), and almost 2 pounds of sausage. That's a lot of food!

After breakfast, my cousin, Hollie, decided to do tattoos on all the kids. Hollie is quite artistic and did a great job. Some of them got tired of waiting, so Brookie and Sean decided to do a few tattoos of their own.

In a previous post, I talked about Riley and Tilley's baseball banquet. Although they didn't win the "World Series", they were the league champions having lost only 1 game. Tilley won the "Singles Hitter" award because she consistently got on base more than any other player. Riley won the "Home Run Hitter" award because of his out-of-the-park homerun! The banquet was held at Events at Sherlake which is a huge indoor playground with lots of inflatable slides, etc. They had Pizza hut pizza brought in and the kids had a blast. Here's a few pics...

Here's all the kids with coach Terry. He's such a great guy. His wife is a dear friend of mine and is actually the DCS worker who placed Tucker, Riley, and Sean with us (the friendship came after the adoptions were final so there was no conflict of interest).

My baby is growing up...

Tilley asked me to buy her a copy of the magazine "Tiger Beat" today. I used to read "Tiger Beat"...my baby is growing up!!!!

Here's a picture of her from Friday night at their baseball banquet...I'll blog more about that later.

Just another Saturday afternoon...

I don't think I've ever mentioned that Andy is very talented musically. He plays several instruments...two of them being the trombone and trumpet. Well, he recently decided that it was time for our kids to have lessons. Here's some video clips of Tilley and Tucker and their lessons...I had to go outside in the sweltering heat after this because I couldn't stand it anymore...

Here's Tilley receiving instruction...

One more...

Can you believe it... another exciting slide show!

I don't like Michael Schiavo...

I found this on MSN today.
I don't believe a single word that man says. If he told me it was daylight right now, I'd walk to the window to see for myself. I think he is a lying, arrogant jerk who wanted his severaly handicapped wife out of the way so he could pursue his sinful, adulterous affair with his mistress. BLECH! He makes me sick.

A slideshow of some of our pics...

We're baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!

First of all let me say, if you've never been in a van for 12 hours with 8 kids, you should try it! The kids really did do great considering how long it took us. We arrived Saturday to the WORST traffic I've ever seen going into Gulf Shores. I've been going there for several years and hadn't seen anything like it (well LEAVING last year, trying to outrun hurricane Dennis wasn't fun). Anyway, the week was great, I'll probably remember funny stuff along the way. One funny was on Sunday morning, we got up, ate, greased up like a bunch of greased pigs, got our stuff and headed for the beach. We'd been there, oh, maybe 10 minutes when the kids started screaming, "I want to go to the pool!" My darling husband, always patient looked at them and said, "I drove TWELVE hours yesterday to get to this (pointing to the ocean). We have that (pointing to the pool) in our back yard at home. We don't have this (the ocean) in TN, so get out there and have fun!" It was definately a Clark W. Griswold moment. Andy's parents drove down from Memphis and spent part of the week with us, and his aunt and uncle brought their motor home from Louisiana and camped at Perdido Key and came over to visit a couple of times.

One of the highlights of the trip was our visit to Lillian's Pizza. Let me tell ya, you haven't had pizza til you've had Lillian's Pizza!!! I knew I'd died and gone to heaven. About four years ago, Lillian's was the first time I ever ate fresh garlic on a pizza and I'm hooked!!!

Here's a few pics...

Madie and Tilley the night before we left.

The crew.

Lunch at a rest area just outside Birmingham.

First trip out to the beach. My camera lens would continually fog up....UGH!

More pictures and video later-I need to go referee a fight!

Six and a half hours...

til I leave for the beach. I'm sure I'll have lots of pics, videos, and funny stories to tell when I get back.
